Minor Requirements
The minor consists of five political science courses, as described below.
Lower Level Subfield Electives
Courses fulfilling this requirement are the 100- and 200-level and have an attribute of POAP (American politics), POCP (comparative politics), POIR (international relations), or POPT (political theory) in the course offerings.
- Two courses at the 100- or 200-level
- The two courses must come from different subfields:
- American politics聽
- comparative politics
- international relations
- political theory
- The two courses must come from different subfields:
Upper Level Electives
Courses fulfilling this requirement are the 300- and 400-level and have an attribute of POAP (American politics), POCP (comparative politics), POIR (international relations), or POPT (political theory) in the course offerings.
- Three courses at the 300- or 400-level
- These may come from any subfield
Additional Stipulations
- No course with a grade below C will count toward the minor.
- Normally, no more than one independent study course, transfer credit, or political science course taken while participating in a Colgate off-campus study group (except those study groups sponsored by the Department of Political Science) is accepted for credit toward a minor. Requests for exceptions must be approved in advance by the faculty member designated to authorize transfer credits.
- A student may not count courses toward a political science minor, which are being counted toward a major in international relations.
